SUPPLEMENTS AND GLUCOSAMINE SULPHATE – GOOD FOR JOINT PAIN?
I tell all of my clients to take glucosamine sulphate in supplement form. I don’t mind admitting this as there is no research to suggest it has any side effects. However my opinion is that without it my joints hurt more and I feel generally more stiff.
I am a huge fan of the supplement, I have come across boxers who talk about coming off from the supplement and having severe lack of mobility in their knuckles and hands due to the punishment they take, only to go back on it and this to be relieved. I’ve trained clients with joint pain generally who say this has disappeared since taking the supplement, although I do realise this can be a combination of better strength and mobility due to my training methods.
Below is a few quick to read articles suggesting the conclusions of several studies and an individual’s experience of the supplement along with his own research involved.
Everyone is different so I can only imagine that some people don’t react with the supplement as well as others. But in my opinion with experience of seeing people take it I have to let people know about it.
If you are thinking of trying some then take 1500mg a day, but if you do feel you are having any adverse reactions to it I would recommend no longer taking it and read the info on the bottle as always. However Always remember that a healthy diet is the key to curing most ailments so try to increase the level of fatty fish in your diet and Omega 3 as this is a crucial natural source in your diet to improve joint health.
